The Association of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of Manitoba (ATIM) was founded in 1980 by a small group of professional translators who wanted a collective voice. Their efforts led to the creation of a non-profit organization, ATIM, which recruited members in the public and private sectors. ATIM is affiliated with the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC), an umbrella organisation for the provincial and territorial associations of Canada.
The Association's objectives are to protect the public interest by ensuring the quality of the services rendered by its members, provide a collective voice for its members, and ensure that members exercise their profession in accordance with its Code of Ethics.
